I love Changi. It has been voted one of the best airports in the world many times over and I never really knew why until I once had to spend an 8 hour transit there. If you cringe at the thought of having long transits and not having anything to do or anywhere to sit, then you simply have to try Singapore’s Changi Airport! Read on below for my review of Changi Airport and why I love it so much!

What Is There To Do In Changi?

Changi Airport is huge with 3 terminals connected with an efficient and very regular train system. Terminal 2 is the largest with the most number of duty free shops however newer terminals such as Terminal 3 comes with a host of its own attractions which promise to keep you entertained for hours! The number of shops and brands offered at their duty-free shopping are mind-boggling with all kinds of luxury brands and cosmetics. Whatever you are looking for, you definitely can find it in Changi! If shopping isn’t really your cup of tea, you can choose to unwind in their superbly comfortable airport chairs dotting the whole terminal with TV entertainment or in a quiet corner. Or relax with their unique indoor koi garden which is lush in greenery – you might even forget you are in an airport terminal! Children absolutely love Changi Airport with their free X-Box Games, Wii Games and activities to keep them entertained for hours. I personally love the free internet terminals they provide all over the airport that comes with a 15-minute cut-off time so kiasu people can’t hog the computer!

If your feet hurt from the shopping, there are lots of free Osim foot massagers to relax your feet with. Its so much fun!

Free Cinema Screenings In Changi Airport

As we had lots of time to kill, I was thrilled to find that Terminal 3 has a cinema, absolutely free! It is just like the normal city cinemas with extra large lanes so bulky luggages can pass through and be “parked” while you catch your movie. Several screenings are shown throughout the day so you may choose to come in halfway or start a new movie.

What amazed me most was the digital clock next to the big screen. Its a gentle reminder to passengers so they don’t miss their flight times! How thoughtful!

Enjoy The Butterfly Garden In Changi Airport

For some fresh air, head over to the beautiful outdoor Butterfly Garden right in Terminal 3. It is a large two-storey area that is beautifully landscaped to resemble a tropical garden and filled with a myriad of colourful butterflies. It even has its own mini waterfall to boot!

It can be a little warm out there if the temperature is hot but a refreshing break if you are tired of shopping and artificial lighting. The butterflies are fed fruit and flowers and are so tame that they will even perch on your fingers for that perfect photo opportunity!

Wouldn’t you love Changi Airport too with their free internet, fantastic duty-free shopping, free movie screenings, free foot massages and relaxing Butterfly Garden? Try it the next time you have a trip scheduled!

I am back from my beach vacation! Brown as a berry! An important lesson I learnt during my vacation – sunblock cannot protect you 100% against the harsh sun. I was using two different sunblocks during my holiday. One was the Australian Cancer Society Sunscreen in SPF30+ for my arms and legs and the Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock SPF50 for my face, kindly lent by sis who had some balance from her previous use.

The Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock is supposed to absorb almost immediately to avoid the sticky feeling traditional sunblock tends to leave on your hands and face.

Benefits of Helioplex

The secret ingredient in the sunblock is Helioplex. Helioplex is a formulation of broad spectrum UVA/UVB skin protection containing Avobenzone and Oxybenzone. Avobenzone reduces the effectiveness after a few hours but Oxybenzone reduces its rate of degradation. However, I was surprised to read that Oxybenzone is actually a photocarcinogen which might contribute to skin cancer! How ironical and scary! Most commercial sunblocks actually have these chemicals so always check the ingredients before you buy and don’t use it over a prolonged period. Read below for my review of the Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock.!

Does Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer Sunblock Work?

I used the Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer Dry Touch sunblock mainly for my face. It applies quite easily, however, I found that it couldn’t really absorb when my skin had moisture which makes a reapplication if you are sweaty or swimming quite difficult. This is a common issue I tend to notice in most sunblocks. I also experienced the sunblock seeming to come off in little white lumps when my skin got wet which made me wonder if I was even protected from the sun!

Is Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer Dry Touch Sunscreen Waterproof?

The Neutrogena sunblock is said to be waterproof but experts usually encourage application every 2 hours or less if you are under intense sun or swimming in water which may wash away some sunblock. My personal experience with the Neutrogena sunblock was that while it protected me to some degree, I did still end up getting sunburnt on my face although I regularly reapplied as I was under very hot beach sun. The burn wasn’t as bad as it might have been without sunblock so I hope my skin was protected to a certain extent. On a personal note, I didn’t feel “protected” with the Neutrogena Dry-Touch sunblock under the hot sun.

Nevertheless, if you are just intending to use it in the city or under usual everyday light, it should work fine. Just be careful when using it under harsh sunlight or in the water.

Where Can I Find Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock?

You can purchase the Neutrogena sunblock at your local Guardian or Watsons pharmacies for RM35 for a 88ml tube.

We’ve been looking around for a built-in wardobe. I was recommended Maxima, the wardrobe specialist and decided to drop by their showroom in Taman Tun to take a look. When I walked into their nicely done up showroom, I was truly impressed by a fantastic walk-in wardrobe that I saw right in their showroom!

Can you imagine having a walk-in wardobe like this?! It had an amazing revolving bag tower and a pull-out mirror which slides in neatly to the side of the wardrobe when not in use. They even had a revolving section for shirts and pants or skirts so you can easily make your choice without crumpling your clothes. Simply amazing! Of course, the price was equally amazing too and this beauty costs about as much as a little local MyVi would cost!

Maxima was actually one of the very first companies who pioneered the concept of built-in wardrobes in Malaysia. It uses Australian technology to create an anti-jump system which comes with a 10-year warranty. Customers can choose the type and layout of the wardrobes they want to fit their space, requirements and budget. Once they have decided on their layouts, Maxima has a wide range of finishing for your wardrobe from wood finishing to glass, depending on the budget their customers have. Maxima’s special features include:

The Anti-Jump System with a 10-year warranty.

Hanging rod and bracket that can hold more than 70 kg.

1mm ABS edging to prevent peeling.

The floor to ceiling design provides maximum storage space.

More than 101 door designs with matching modern frosted lass/mirror.

Frosted glass/mirror with film to enhance toughness and prevent shattering

Imported long-lasting drawer runners.

The sales person demonstrated the durability of their wardrobe doors by banging on it to show how strong the anti-jump system was and to assure us that their system was truly superior and we would not have to worry about the doors jumping off the tracks or sticking when it slides.

Maxima uses screws to fix your wardrobe instead of nails which allows the wardrobes to be easily removed, if required, for assembly in a new home. I thought this was a great idea as it would certainly provide quite a bit of savings especially if the wardrobe was still in a good condition.

Maxima prices tend to be quite a bit higher than the average built-in wardrobe specialist but they have a good track record and high quality products for their prices. Visit their showrooms at the following areas:

I have always loved Ribena and never failed to associate ice-cold Ribena with hot sunny afternoons. The distinctive blackcurrant taste is really yummy and it is said to be full of glucose and rich in Vitamin C which growing children need.

Recently, I have been seeing some interesting new Ribena products called Ribena mobiles available on the supermarket shelves. It is essentially a foil pack of Ribena with a thick straw on top to ease drinking. The foil pack chills faster and keeps cool longer which makes it a perfect thirst quencher.

Ribena Mobile is available in several interesting flavours such as Blackcurrant & Pear, Blackcurrant & Peach alongside the original Ribena flavours and Ribena with Glucose. I recently tried the Blackcurrant & Pear as I was really intrigued by the thought of how pear would taste in a drink. Upon taking a sip, I was surprised to find that there was hardly any pear taste and the main flavour was still the blackcurrant taste.

The packaged Ribena drinks tend to be a little on the thick and sweet side. Nevertheless, it does have great thirst-quenching properties and was delicious despite the slight sweetness. I bought my Ribena Mobile for RM2.10 from Jusco for a 330ml pack.
