Some say no eyebrows are the newest beauty trend to hit the beauty world but for Chinese, not having clear eyebrows are absolutely taboo! Unlike some who have to trim their eyebrows on a constant basis, I have hardly any eyebrows to speak of so depending on my eye brow drawing skills, I can have different eyebrows for different days!

I have always loved using the Shu Uemura Eyebrow Pencil and a little hesitant about using brushes as I find brushes harder to control. However, I changed my mind when I got my hands on the Beautilicious Arch It Right Eyebrow Kit. Read on for my review of the Beautilicious Eyebrow Kit below.

Beautilicious, Malaysian Make Up

Beautilicious is a home-grown Malaysian brand by Julie, a lovely lady who created affordable and pretty local make up for local Malaysians who don’t want to spend lots of money on imported make up. I personally love her palettes which feature drawings of pretty girls in sweet colours. They make wonderful little gifts or collectibles!

Beautilicious Arch It Right Kit

The eyebrow kit is a dainty little kit complete with everything you need for beautiful brows. Every kit comes with 2 shades of eyebrow colours, a tiny set of tweezers, a tiny brush and 4 reusable eyebrow stencils to suit every face shape. It is everything you need for pretty eyebrows with a salon finish!

I prefer the darker shade of eyebrow colour as it matches Asian colouring better. The lighter shade is in a brown shade that might suit people with highlighted hair. With the Arch it Right kit, it is easy to trim my little hairs into the right shape. Brushing on the eyebrow shades are easy and I really like how my eyebrows come out looking nice and balanced with a pretty little arch.

The Arch It Right kit retails for a very affordable RM59.90. Try it for pretty and groomed eyebrows!

Liquid foundation did not use to be a part of my make-up regime as I was always concerned of blocked pores from the thick liquid. However, when I recently had a chance to try the newly launched Lancome Maquiliquide UV Infinité foundation, I found I had to revise my previous prejudice about liquid foundation! Read on for my review of the Lancome Maquiliquide UV Infinité below.

Lancome Maquiliquide UV Infinité Is Available In 11 Shades

This new liquid foundation by Lancome comes in a pretty glass pump bottle. I was rather impressed by the glass bottle as you don’t find many cosmetics in glass bottles now!

When choosing a foundation, it is very important to ensure it matches and blends into your natural skin tone colour. The Lancome Maquiliquide comes in 11 different shades specially formulated for Asian women so finding the right shade should not be too difficult. I was lucky to have Lancome’s national make-up artist, Zamri Zainol, choose the right shade for me and it was an amazing match! The foundation blends in seamlessly everytime I use it!

The glass bottle makes the foundation appear a little darker than what it is so do not hesitate to consult the make up artists or Lancome counter girls for help in selecting the right foundation colour.

Light Foundation That Does Not Clog Pores

The Maquiliquide is a delightful water-based foundation that is light and best of all, does not clog pores! Instead, its special formulation tightens pores upon application to help you achieve a smooth finish to your skin.

Lancome Maquiliquide contains SPF20 and Aquafix which is a unique ingredient that counters oil and shine to ensure your make up remains fresh until late night. I personally liked this as my skin tends to turn a little oily towards the end of the day and but with the Maquiliquide, my make up did not melt as much as it normally does. If you have oily areas like mine, lightly pat the foundation in instead of rubbing it on to help it last longer throughout your busy day.

I have been using it for at least a month and am pleased to find that it also cleans off quite easily with cleansing oil.

You can purchase the Lancome Maquiliquide UV Infinité at any Lancome counters for RM130. Use it together with the Maquicake UV Infinité compact foundation and Maqui Loose Powder for a perfect and flawless face.

I have a love for Kanebo skincare but as much as I like their skincare, I love their makeup even more. Maybe its because they are Asian and have a range of colours suitable for Asian colouring and are sufficiently shimmery enough to add some highlight to my face. One lipstick I particularly like from their range is the Kanebo Testimo Serumdrape Rouge Lipstick which I have reviewed below. It is unfortunately discontined but you might still be able to find it from some online stores.

Colour And Texture Of The Kanebo Testimo Lipstick

My lipstick is in the RS-228 shade which is a pleasant rose shade. It isn’t too dark and presents a really nice sweet look for women with fair skin. The texture is soft and I found that it had a bit of tendency to melt and smoosh around the edges after some time which made it a little messy to apply sometimes.

The colour is nice and sparkly which I so love! It has a nice shimmer when it goes on your lips which can take you from day to night easily! The shimmer means you don’t need to add another layer of lip gloss which some people may find too sticky.

The shimmer and soft colour creates a very pretty and sweet touch to your face!

What I Don’t Like About Kanebo Testimo Lipstick

I found that the lipstick tended to make my lips a little dry and flakey. My lips started peeling towards the evening after a full day of using it. However, it could have been due to the fact that my lipstick was a little old so please do share if you experienced something similar with yours.

All in all, it is still a great little lipstick!

ParisB did a great review of it in her 30 Lipsticks In 30 Days posts!

So, how does it score in Pink Elle Reviews? Read on for my review of the Lancome Oscillation Mascara below!

What Is The Hype About The New Lancome Oscillation Mascara?

Imagine what a mascara that oscillates 7,000 times per minute can do to your lashes? It magically curls, extends, seperates and multiplies your lashes to volumise and extend them so you can achieve beautiful lashes naturally without even using a curler! The secret of the oscillation technique means your lashes get coated up to 360 degrees, as compared to conventional mascara tips.

Does The Lancome Oscillation Mascara Really Work?

During Lancome’s test session on a model (who had amazingly long eyelashes I’m so envious of!), I saw the Lancome Oscillation in action and it really does create amazing length and volume similar to that false eyelashes try to achieve.

Yes, those are her REAL eyelashes!

If you have worn false eyelashes before, you will know the pain of trimming them, getting just enough glue on the side, curling them then having to deal with the trouble of removing them. It feels great to know that you can opt to go fully natural and yet have nice lashes to accentuate your eyes.

I was quite impressed on the effect it had on my short eyelashes and how it did make my eyes look that little bit bigger. Anything that works for stubby lashes are indeed a winner in my books!

Using The Lancome Oscillation Mascara

The mascara handle comes with a tiny little button which you press to activate the oscillation. It is recommended that you press it only when you are ready to apply it at the base of your lashes to avoid wasting the battery inside.

Honestly, it does take some getting used to. When I initially tried it out, I found that I tended to press the button a little too hard which made it harder to control and some messy eyelashes. I personally also found starting from the base a bit hard as my lashes were not curled beforehand which meant it was harder to reach the base. However, with some practice, I did manage to properly apply it on both my eyes and although the effect wasn’t as va-voom as when the Lancome make up artist did a trial for me, it does give nice lashes while saving me one step in my make-up routine! I like that it did not leave a heavy or sticky feeling on my lashes which I faced with some mascaras. The mascara is easily removed with just warm water which is a big plus point as I have had bad experiences with mascaras that took ages to come off and left me looking a little panda-like.

Where To Buy The New Lancome Vibrating Mascara

The Lancome Oscillation retails for RM120 and are available at all Lancome counters nation wide. However, in conjunction with their launch, the Lancome truck will be making its rounds around Peninsular Malaysia starting 18th April for women to get their lashes diagnosed with Lancome’s unique Lash Ruler and try the Oscillation Z-vibrating mascara for free!

Catch Zamri Zainol, Lancome’s National Make Up Artist, at selected roadshows and learn some valuable make up tips on using the new vibrating mascara!

If there has ever been a controversial palette, the newly launched Dior Parisian Lights has to take the cake based on the many reviews that have been written on it! I first had a look at it over Chinese New Year and like all Dior products, it comes in a sleek little black case with five pressed colours. There is a range of five different types of shades:

Petal Shine – purple based shades

Earth Reflections – brown earth based shades

Parisian Lights – the one I tried which comes with lighter earth tones

Tropical Light – green based shades

Sky Glow – blue based shades

The Dior Parisian Lights is designed with a unique Wet Reflect™ technology which saturates the powders with pearlescent particles which promises to give shimmer and brilliance to your eyes.

Read my experience with the Dior Parisian Lights below.

There have been lots of criticism at the Dior Parisian Lights due to the lightness of its colours. However, I found that its silky and almost creamy texture blends very well on the eyelid. Add the lightness of the colour and it makes it an easy eyeshadow to use for first-timers or those who aren’t so adept with their make up skills. I for one, am terrified of looking like I have been punched in the eyes so the Dior Parisian Lights eyeshadow gave me that extra bit of confidence in applying it on.

The colours blend quite well together and when I tried it, I found that it did a good job of brightening up my eyes and making me look more alert. Do go easy on the shimmer as too much of it can make your eyes look sleepy instead of the alert effect you hope to achieve.

So, what’s my final take on the Dior Parisian Lights? I think it works well for make up newbies and those who don’t like dark shades. However, if you are going for a night function, you might want to go with something darker for a more stunning effect. The Dior Parisian Lights retails at RM187 and can be found at all Dior make up counters.

Tiffa by Kanebo was a brand I did not know much about despite being a fan of Kanebo products. it turns out that Tiffa is actually the cheaper sister of Kanebo which produces drugstore cosmetics. Although cheaper, the quality is not compromised in anyway and consumers are still assured of the high quality makeup that Kanebo has become famous for.

Personally, I find using eyeliners quite difficult. One eyeliner that worked for me for a while was the Bobbi Brown Liquid Eyeliner which although was good required a good brush to apply it properly. I tried other pencil type eyeliners such as the Clinique Quickliner for Eyes but found that it hurt the delicate skin of my eyes when I applied it on and for all that pain, the colour just did not come out right!

Plus I’m all about packaging so when I saw the Kanebo Tiffa Liquid Eyeliner pretty pink packaging, I knew I just had to try it! Plus it was available in a brush eyeliner form which promises easier application. Since I don’t have a liquid eyeliner yet, I decided to add it to my collection. Read my review of the Kanebo Tiffa Liquid Eyeliner below.

The Kanebo Tiffa Liquid Eyeliner is available in a slim auto pen with a fine-tipped brush. You have to turn the bottom of it for the colour to come up and when you initially open it, it would take several turns before the colour actually appears on the brush. The colour usually comes up in a little blob or bead and that is one grouse I have as it will totally screw up your make up should you apply it directly. Instead, what I usually do is to dab the bead of eyeliner on my hand and to apply it from there so it smoothens out a little.

Application wise, I found it surprisingly easy to use considering my apprehensions about liquid eyeliners. The tip of the brush is always sharp and fine so you don’t have to worry abouut your eyeliner smudging. It takes a bit of practice initially as the eyeliner can be a little too thick with an uncontrolled hand. However, with practice, I find it really easy to draw on the liquid eyeliner now! The beauty of the brush is that it allows for varying levels of thickness of eyeliner, depending on the occasion you’re wearing it for.

The liner is quick drying and rather long-lasting. Unlike some eyeliners, I find that it continues to remain relatively fresh till the end of the day and does not leave me with panda eyes by the time the day is over! A good tip to applying eyeliner I was taught is to look up in the mirror when applying it so you can ensure the bottom of your eyelids are properly filled with the eyeliner. It’s relatively easy to use for beginners and I would recommend it if you are looking for a quality yet inexpensive liquid eyeliner.

Have I mentioned how much I like lip glosses?

I find it such an easy and convenient way to brighten up your face and it is quick to apply when in a hurry.

I am also a big fan of Japanese cosmetics and makeup brands as I tend to find them more suitable for my skin and colouring. Not to mention the really cute packaging they come in! Hence, I was quite thrilled to find a nice little lipgloss in the form of Canmake Lip Essence.

Canmake Tokyo is a Japanese brand which carries a range of cosmetics for your eyes, face, nails, lips and fragrances. It is a Japanese drug store brand and provides a decent quality makeup range for a reasonable price. It is not currently available in Malaysia but can easily be found in Japan drugstores and Watsons in Taiwan. Their makeup tends to seem more muted and appealing to younger girls as they have a wide variety of products in pretty cotton candy pink hues.

The Canmake Lip Essence comes in a sleek and pretty container with a nylon tip which provides easy application. The lip essence comes with a light scent depending on the colours you buy and is available in 3 different colour ranges:

01 – A light sheen which turns into a polarizing pink; has a cherry scent

02 – Cassis Pink; a pink which melts into red for luscious lips, has a cassis scent

03 – Milky Pink; a cute and sweet cherry-blossom pink, has a strawberry scent

The scents are not very strong and I found them to be quite pleasing and sweet. As a lip gloss, they promise that it can prevent chapped lips with a beauty fluid to protect your lips. I am not sure about this as I don’t usually have chapped lips but I did find that it glided on smoothly onto my lips without any thick or sticky feeling. I personally found the colours a little light but it would be great if you are using it as a base under your lipstick to give it some shine or as a gloss stick for weekends

Canmake Lip Essence promises to plump your lips up and add volume to it. I am not sure about this but I did find it rather moisturing and it felt quite pleasant on my lips even a few hours later.

Canmake lip essence retails for approximately 680 yen (RM27) which makes it a really cheap and nice lip gloss if it was available in Malaysia! For those of you lucky enough to have access to it, do give it a try!

My first experiment with mascara wasn’t a very successful experiment. For starters, I had no idea that mascara dries in approximately 6 months after it has been opened and when it is dried, it turns out terrible on the lashes! Imagine having blocked vision caused by poorly applied mascara!

Many months later, sis introduced Majolica Majorca to me and I am so in love with it! If you are a girly girl like me, you would love Majorlica Majorca’s cute little packaging! The packaging for all their cosmetics often have pretty gold motifs on them that make it so classy. Recently, in an attempt to improve my mascara skills, I picked up the Majolica Majorca Lash Enamel Glamour Neo. It goes by the cute tagline “Hope My Lashes Are Full & Smooth” on the cover which was what drew me to it. Read my review of it below.

Majolica Majorca’s Lash Enamel Glamour Neo is a volumising and waterproof mascara. It contains a secret ingredient, Gloss Oil, which helps to ensure the lashes continue to remain smooth and glossy after application. This was truly a bonus to me as it meant no more clumpy lashes or obstructed vision! :p

It is available in a pretty gold and black tube with Majolica Majorca’s signature gold emblem at the top of it. Opening it is easy and I absolutely love the fine-toothed mascara comb they have at the end instead of the usual mascara applicator brush. It makes application so easy and such a delight to use as it is easy to reach all your lashes, even the small ones by the side. I did have a bit of trouble with clumping especially if the comb is too full of mascara but that was easily solved with a quick press of my fingers to remove the excess.

I also really liked the fact that my mascara did not run or smear, even after a long day at work! This was wonderful after too many bad experiences of looking like a panda with mascara under my eyes towards the end of my workday.

I am now a huge fan of Majolica Majorca mascara range and I’m sure you would love it too!

I’m a real sucker for packaging and pretty make up never fails to attract me. For this reason, I have always enjoyed looking at Majolica Majorca products and I really love how quaint their products look with their pretty gold swirly designs. Majolica Majorca has only recently become available in Malaysia and prior to this, I was lucky enough to get some of their eyeshadow from Japan which I really like.

Recently, they launched their new Majolica Majorca Fall 2008 Collection with their new Trick On palette. It comes in their same pretty gold packaging and I really like them! I’m a fan of shimmery colours and the new Majolica Trick Eyes palette definitely has sufficient shimmer for me! The colours are soft and muted which makes it easy to play around with and mix with other colours.

I tried playing around with it. The powder is soft and easy to apply and I really like how easily it blended. The shimmery highlight gives it a touch of glamour for big pretty eyes! I really like it!

If you are a Majolica Majorca fan, you’ll be happy to know that there is a Majolica Majorca giveaway going on at My Women Stuff until 10 October so do check it out!

I have to admit that I am quite hopeless with eyeliners. I tried using Clinique eyeliners in the pencil form before but I found that it hurt my eyelids as the tip of it seemed rather hard. Maybe I wasn’t doing something right with them but I really didn’t like using them as to me, good make up shouldn’t hurt!

Then thanks to sis, I tried the fantastic Bobbi Brown Liquid Eyeliner and I was truly amazed! For the first time, I finally managed to achieve nicely lined eyes! Bobbi Brown eyeliner comes in cute little pots which reminded me terribly of the paint bottles I used to use in high school. The bottles are actually made out of frosted glass and are tiny little pots that fit perfectly into your makeup drawer. You’ll need to use a small flat brush with sharp tips to apply this properly. Just dip your brush a little into the gel and try to draw on your liner with a steady hand!

I found that using the tips or sides of the brush help to give a thinner line but it takes a little bit more skill. Using the flatter section of the brush will result in a thicker line for a more glamorous night effect. Best of all, this eyeliner lasts the whole day, even for someone like me whose makeup tends to disappear after half a day! My only grouse about the Bobbi Brown eyeliner is that it takes quite some time to apply and you have to be careful whilst applying it so it’s definitely not something that can be done in a hurry! Luckily this does improve with practice so I guess that’s the only secret to having beautiful eyes!

I also found some easy eyeliner tips from FruityBeauty who teaches how to apply liquid eyeliner to help you look just like Angelina Jolie!

Easy is good, don’t you think?
