Review Of Mukti Botanicals Organic Skincare Range

Organic skincare is always touted to be better for your skin as it does not contain harsh chemicals and preservatives. My first trial of organic products was with the Mukti Organic Rosehip Eye Gel which I found rather good. So I was pleased to recently have the opportunity to try the full skincare range from Mukti Botanicals, the same Australian organic skincare company. Read my review below.
Review of Mukti Botanicals Organic Skincare Range
Mukti Gentle Foaming Cleanser
The gentle foaming cleanser is recommended for normal, combination and oily skin. It is also recommended for acne-prone skin as the cleanser cleans without stripping the skin of its natural oils while balancing the sebaceous activity which usually causes acne flare ups. The first time I used it I was overpowered by the geranium smell it contained. It is refreshing to a certain extent but I found it a bit too strong for my liking. It even left a lingering smell in my bathroom after I used the cleanser! As a cleanser, it did a relatively decent job of cleansing my face without drying it out. However, no-no to the smell!
Mukti Refreshing Mist Toner
I followed up with the refreshing mist toner which comes in a nifty spritzer bottle. This was my first time using a spritzer toner and I have to admit that it takes some time getting used to. It was a bit of a challenge to spritz on the right amount without getting it into my eyes (it stings when it does)! Once its on the face, pat it in gently for your skin to absorb the toner. Personally, I found it quite hydrating although it took a bit of time for my skin to absorb it (maybe I squirted too much?) but again, the citrus/geranium smell it had was a bit of a turn off.
Mukti Balancing Facial Crème
The final step of the skincare regime is the Mukti Balancing Facial Crème which contains a blend of oils for protection and hydration. Mukti recommends gently pressing the moisturiser into your skin which was a new way of application for me! Its main ingredient is Organic Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis) Leaf Juice which is a popular product in organic skincare and found to have good moisturizing properties and even alleviating eczema and psoriasis symptoms. As a moisturizer, I found it to be less moisturizing for my skin and caused several dry areas to appear.
Is Organic Skincare Good For You?
I used the Mukti range for almost 2 weeks. After that period, I found my skin properties seemed to slightly change as I had dry areas around my chin but my T-zone seemed to get oilier. I also started getting breakouts and it took quite a bit of time to get the pimples back in control which was a real pain. I am still trying to remedy the dry areas and have since switched to more hydrating products. Personally, I also found the smell of the products to be a bit of a turn-off.
However, there are many who have used organic skincare with very good results and I guess a lot of it depends on the sensitivity of your skin and skin texture or condition.
Should you wish to try the Mukti skincare range, they are available at The Body Bar, Lot 31, 1st Floor at Tropicana City Mall at Damansara Intan.

Skin care isn’t always a feel-good affair. The reason I said that is due to the fact that most persons believe that a little stinging, irritation or discomfort when using skin care treatment means that the treatment is no good.
But the truth is…skin care isn’t always a pampering activity.
Take glycolic pads for instance. Selecting a glycolic pad that works means choosing the one that stings your facial skin. The stinging indicates that the acid is strong enough to exfoliate your skin.
In other words…no stinging equals no results.
However, notice I said sting and not blister. There’s a difference.
Just remember our goal in skin care is to have the best skin we could imagine (or rather the best skin we can afford). So focus on the results of the product you’re using…
…and not the smell.
In fact you should even show more gratitude to the manufacturers because of the product awful odour. That scent indicates that the product is organic and natural.
And doesn’t contain perfumes or articifial scents like the other chemical based products.
So please focus on the results that your getting and not the scent.

Maybe your skin is just trying to get used to the new skincare products and is trying to purge out the old stuff/toxin/oil. Give it a few more weeks and the results will be better.

Hi Lisa – Thanks but I decided to go back to my regular skin care after the breakouts I experienced!

Mukti doesn’t work for me either, my skin never really felt clean, and came out with a lot of pimples and blotches on my face after using it for 2 months.
