I’ve always passed Just Thai in One Utama and thought it to be a nice Thai restaurant with its dark wood furniture, red cushions and soothing water fountains. However, my impression of it changed after a team lunch we had there recently.

Read below on my review of Just Thai Restaurant and my terrible encounter there!

We had a party of approximately 24 people and with advance bookings, they did not manage to seat all of us on one table. So 3 colleagues, including myself, got ostracized from the rest of the team…so much for a team lunch!

We had pre-ordered our food and I was surprised to note that despite the earlier orders, our food came rather late. My colleagues and I were approximately 40 minutes late and when we arrived, some of them who were already there much earlier was just getting their food!

I had ordered their recommended Stir-fried minced chicken with hot basil leaves served with steamed rice and a sunny side up (RM13). It sounded good and I was looking forward to trying it out.

I took one small bite and YIKES!!!! I had a white fat worm staring back at me on my spoon! It was white and resembled a grain of rice so much that I would have gotten some extra unwanted protein if I wasn’t paying attention! It was like a fat maggot with black eyes (which gave it away) and was really gross! The waiter was there when I discovered this extra ingredient and immediately took my plate away to change the dish.

I should have changed my order for they probably simply removed it and reassembled the same plate! They sent my meal back in about 5 minutes and I ensured I poked through very warily and thoroughly before eating it. They are quite measly with their chicken pieces which were mainly thin bits of chicken and gristle. It was quite spicy. However, that does not mean they had to ignore my four requests for additional chilli!

I paid over RM14 for my wormy experience, plus tax as they charged 50 cents for a glass of warm water. For that horrible experience, they should have given that meal to me free but I did not want to kick up a ruckus as we were rushing off.

Will I ever go back there again?

Never…I’m sure there are better Thai options to go to.
