This Valentine’s Day, why not whisk your loved one away to a rich, scented Arabic tent and be dazzled by a pretty belly dancer as you enjoy your meal, right here in Kuala Lumpur?

Its all at Al Nafourah, KL’s popular Middle Eastern restaurant located in Le Meridien Hotel, KL Sentral. Your experience begins the moment you walk into the restaurant. The sweet scent of roses fills your senses as you walk past tiled fountains filled with floating rose petals into an Arabian Night setting with rich curtains, colorful paintings and the delicious smell of Middle Eastern cooking. Feast your eyes are you enter for there’s lots to see from traditional Arabic lanterns to light bread freshly made on a domed griddle, right in front of you.

You will be presented with a welcome drink when you are seated, served in the most interesting fashion, out of a huge pot with a long spout strapped onto one of the server’s back!

For a truly unique experience, do be sure to book their private tent when you place your reservation and feast like Moorish royalty! It is a cosy little place perfect for two or even up to five with curtains all around a semi-circular plush sofa. Do be warned though that the curtains cannot be closed, as per the hotel management rules, to avoid any unwanted circumstances! ;)

The private tent is also one of the best ways to watch the pretty belly dancer who performs every Thursday to Saturday. Listen out for the tinkling of ankle bells that signal her arrival and watch her sinewy moves to the Middle Eastern music. She will perform privately for each tent, if you agree to, which makes it a really unique experience!

If you are still reluctant to leave after you have feasted, make your way to the lounge on the other side of the restaurant which is luxuriously decorated with rich paintings, ornate furniture and a beautiful marble fountain filled with rose petals - Perfect for relaxing after that heavy Middle Eastern meal!

Al-Nafourah Kuala Lumpur remains one of my favourite restaurants as it is a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. There, life slows down to a luxurious pace as you enjoy your meal, atmosphere, company and the belly dancing. Their semi-buffet dinner is definitely worth a try where you can choose from all kinds of appetizers and desserts together with one main meal from their menu.
