If there has ever been a controversial palette, the newly launched Dior Parisian Lights has to take the cake based on the many reviews that have been written on it! I first had a look at it over Chinese New Year and like all Dior products, it comes in a sleek little black case with five pressed colours. There is a range of five different types of shades:

  • Petal Shine – purple based shades
  • Earth Reflections – brown earth based shades
  • Parisian Lights – the one I tried which comes with lighter earth tones
  • Tropical Light – green based shades
  • Sky Glow – blue based shades

The Dior Parisian Lights is designed with a unique Wet Reflect™ technology which saturates the powders with pearlescent particles which promises to give shimmer and brilliance to your eyes.

Read my experience with the Dior Parisian Lights below.

There have been lots of criticism at the Dior Parisian Lights due to the lightness of its colours. However, I found that its silky and almost creamy texture blends very well on the eyelid. Add the lightness of the colour and it makes it an easy eyeshadow to use for first-timers or those who aren’t so adept with their make up skills. I for one, am terrified of looking like I have been punched in the eyes so the Dior Parisian Lights eyeshadow gave me that extra bit of confidence in applying it on.

The colours blend quite well together and when I tried it, I found that it did a good job of brightening up my eyes and making me look more alert. Do go easy on the shimmer as too much of it can make your eyes look sleepy instead of the alert effect you hope to achieve.

So, what’s my final take on the Dior Parisian Lights? I think it works well for make up newbies and those who don’t like dark shades. However, if you are going for a night function, you might want to go with something darker for a more stunning effect. The Dior Parisian Lights retails at RM187 and can be found at all Dior make up counters.
