Wrinkles…they are a bane of a woman’s life! How many women have looked at themselves in the mirror and wish there was a way they could magically make those wrinkles disappear? A heavily advertised product called Tri-Aktiline promises to do just that but does it really work?

I was recently in Midvalley when I saw a bright purple booth advertising the Tri-Aktiline cream which claims to minimise your wrinkles instantly. According to their statistics:

  • 68% of subjects reported a visible filling of wrinkles immediately
  • 83% of subjects reported improvement in the appearance of wrinkle lines after 4 weeks
  • And clinical studies showed a 45% visible reduction in wrinkle depth and length after 8 weeks

They were offering free trials so mom decided to give it a try. They seat you down in front of a mirror, squeeze a little on their finger and teach you how to apply the cream. The way to apply Tri-Aktiline is to massage the cream into your wrinkle lines with your fingers with some gentle but firm pressure. It takes quite some time to massage it in and lo and behold, mom’s wrinkle line really did look lighter once she was done massaging it! Seemed like their instant wrinkle minimizer claim seemed to work!

The secret in this cream are 3 wrinkle fighting ingredients called Gatuline, Kombuchka and Argireline which tackle wrinkles in 3 different ways:

1. Gatuline® Expression is a plant extract that helps relax the look of facial tension and expression lines. Why? Facial muscle contractions can cause excessive wrinkles that we call expression lines, crows feet, laugh lines, etc. By helping to relax this muscular activity, we can help reduce the look of facial lines caused by and associated with regular, everyday facial expressions.

2. Kombuchka™ PH Extract comes from a seaweed extract that is rich in polysaccharides that are rich in moisture. They penetrate the skin to help plump and smooth the wrinkle from the inside out.

3. Argireline® is a peptide that prompts skin into its re-build mode, stimulating natural collagen production in the skin to help repair existing wrinkles and slow the creation of new ones. It provides visible, long-term results.

Application is to be done after you have cleansed and toned your face. According to the promoter, it is important to massage the cream in to ensure the cream gets into the wrinkles. The cream is odourless and applies on quite easily. I was told that it does not clog pores as it is water based so it should be safe for all skin types.

Based on our experience, the wrinkle minimizing effect does not seem to last and once you stop application of the cream, it seems to come back again. However, the promoter did recommend that the cream be used over a prolonged period of at least 6 months to see long-lasting effects.

A tube retails for RM180 (ouch!) and can be purchased from the Tri-Aktiline booth in Midvalley old wing, 1st floor or most Guardian outlets.
