My office colleagues were tremendously excited when an O’Briens sandwich bar opened near our office. Finally, there was a new place to try in our terrible office location where we had hardly any food choices! The first three days it opened, they kicked off with a really good promotion of Buy 1, Free 1 sandwiches which resulted in the queue stretching all the way to the door!

The promotion provided a great opportunity for me to try their famous sandwiches as I find them too expensive during normal times. The O’Briens outlet is clean and pleasant with glass, timber flooring and comfortable chairs to sit in while enjoying your sandwiches. The highlight of the cafe is the glass bar in which the sandwich ingredients are kept which provides a mouth watering sight as the servers assemble your sandwich in front of you.

The most famous feature of O’Briens is their chicken bacon which is a very tasty and crispy thin slice of processed meat which they include in their popular triple decker sandwiches.

Their sandwiches are available in a variety of untoasted and toasted sliced white or wholemeal bread, foccacia or wraps. The sandwiches don’t come cheap and average over RM10 for sandwiches with chicken or tuna. Their popular triple decker retails for RM16.50 and is hugely popular mainly because of the tasty chicken bacon in it. Made with 3 slices of bread, it is a hearty lunch for a small eater like me! All their sandwiches come with a handful of potato crisps alongside for that little bit of sin after your healthy lunch! ;)

As delicious as the sandwiches are, I found them very expensive even with the promotion on. Their drinks are even more expensive as each healthy fruit drink retails for approximately RM8 and above. Together with a sandwich, it can be a rather expensive lunch especially in these tough financial times!
