Villas in the South of France

I have never been to France, beyond Paris, but I have a friend who travels there every year since he fell in love with the place during his first trip there. He always stays in the most beautiful places and asked my favour in sharing them with everyone so they too can know of beautiful and quaint places to stay in instead of boring and impersonal hotels.

La Chaumiere

One sweet little place he stayed in before was a rural gite in Brittany, in the South of France. It was tucked away in the countryside and despite its simple facade, boasted a heated swimming pool within its compound. Transformed from an old farmhouse, it is perfect in the summer when the flowers are in full bloom and the air thick with their scent. What a charming place! I would simply love holing myself up in a place like this amongst the locals and enjoy the simple village life.

Often, tourists are now finding that private villas are surprisingly affordable to live in especially when they’re travelling in a group. Many are choosing to rent a private apartment in Brest or cheap private villas in Lorient to enjoy the convenience and freedom of staying in a home rather than a hotel. They can be surprisingly inexpensive when the costs are split amongst a big group and offer lots of great facilities including swimming pools and fully equipped kitchens.

They’re the perfect place to lie back and soak up some local life in a charming little French village! :)
