I stayed in The Oasis Benoa Bali when I last went to Bali. It was newly opened then and was a pretty little boutique beach hotel right on the beautiful, quiet Tanjung Benoa beach. The hotel is interestingly built around an invitingly blue lap pool that runs almost the entire length of the hotel and faces the beautiful Tanjung Benoa beach. Most of the rooms face or overlook the pool and the rooms on the ground floor have direct access to the swimming pool.

The first thing that strikes you when you arrive at their calming lobby is how windy and cool the whole place is. The architecture of the place seems to have been designed to capture the coolness of the constant breeze. The area above is where you arrive at and where you can sit to wait for their complimentary shuttle into Kuta which runs at regular hours.

From this lobby area, you take a staircase down to the real lobby where you do your check in. Smiling attendants will welcome you with a cool towel and refreshing cold drinks as you check in and enjoy the beautiful view of the inviting aquamarine pool. The receptionists are very pleasant and speak very good English. They were very helpful in advising us where we could get good diving schools in Nusa Dua, local tours and transportation to the airport or surrounding areas.

Meals are served in the ajoining restaurant next to the registration desk and we enjoyed sumptous breakfasts every morning we were there. There was a wonderful variety of both local and Western food and the most delicious fresh fruits that was served with the breakfast. What we loved most was the lovely breeze that accompanied us with every breakfast. It made the whole area so cool that they didn’t even need any form of fans or airconditioning in the reception and dining area which made it a very eco-friendly hotel.

The rooms were fairly big and came with wooden flooring and cable television which was great at nights when we wanted to relax. They provided rubber slippers for you to wear in the room and around the hotel but be do be warned if you try to pack it in your luggage as a souvenier as they are not complimentary! There was lots of dark paneling in the room which gave it a classy feel and their beds were fairly comfortable. The shower was clean, however, we did have some trouble with their hot water system as the hot water had a habit of disappearing halfway through!

For those who enjoy the nightlife, The Oasis Benoa has a sister hotel in Kuta called The Oasis Kuta which is perfect for those who enjoy bar-hopping and the fast paced life of Kuta. However, for those who enjoy peace and quiet, The Oasis Benoa Bali is a wonderful choice to enjoy the beautiful island of Bali.
