Airebus Business Class Coach

In a time of rising petrol prices and sky high inflation, any form of freebie is indeed welcome, even more so when it comes in the form of a luxury bus ride from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur. I took off to Singapore last weekend for a little shopping spree during The Great Singapore Sale. Sis had booked us return tickets on the Airebus Executive Coach so imagine our surprise when the luxury business class bus pulled up at the DFS Singapore stop.
Unlike the double decker Executive Class coach, the Airebus Business Class coach is a single deck coach with a row of twin seats and one single row for single travellers. The Business Class seats are nice plush leather seats which are bigger than the fabric covered Executive Class and each seat comes with its very own LCD TV screen! It is incredibly like the Business Class seats in any airline minus the full recline the airline seats come with. A steward or stewardess accompanies each trip and ours was a little funny Indian man who got really stressed when the seats got mixed up at the start of the journey and at passengers who insisted on walking around at the immigration office!

Shortly after we cleared the JB immigration, lunch was served. Lunch on the Executive Class coach usually comprised little plastic boxes of rice and dishes served by a stewardess which you try to eat off a little tray fastened to the back of the chair in front of you. Lunch in Business Class was served by the steward right off the trolley which was just like an airline trolley and was served on sturdy trays hidden in the armrest of the chairs. Before serving, he laid each tray with a piece of serviette and arranged the plastic cutlery on it which I found quite amusing. After lunch, he passed around a little pack of peanuts for everyone. Each passenger receives one bottle of mineral water and he was really kind to give me an extra one when mine finished.
The bus just makes one quick break halfway along the journey. Shortly before we arrived at the Midvalley Megamall stop, a hot drink of Milo was served by the steward to refresh everyone. This was followed by a little sweetener of dried nutmeg pieces served in a little twist of serviette. It was a really nice gesture and a pleasant surprise.
The service offered by the Airebus Business Class coach was really nice and made the journey very pleasant. It truly felt like we were flying Business Class and the journey passed by very quickly. We were really lucky to get the upgrade from our Executive Class tickets. With rising petrol prices, I can imagine that the journeys from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore will only get more expensive!

I am pleased with the reviews for the Airebus Coach but I am yet to take the seat (returning to Singapore and enroute to Melbourne0. I gathered the information from the websites and came across the Asiawebdirect.com where I booked and paid for the return tickets. The trouble began when I waited, 4 days earlier, for the Coach outside the DFS Galleria along Scotts Road as advised and confirmed by Asiaweb. It stressed that I had to be there by no later than 1.30pm for departure at 2pm. I waited from 1pm to 3pm when I decided to ring Asiaweb directly from a Kiosk (adding to the woes my Malaysia sim-card ran out of credit). I was advised by Asiaweb that they did not know about any change in piuckup point and directed me to call Airebus Platinum Services myself. I was fuming when told that the coach had left and that Asiaweb was aware of the change but did not email me.
I usually travel with my laptop and do access my email on a daily basis. Asiaweb left me in the lurch and seemd to “pass the buck” when I called them later.
I was left with no choice but to take a taxi to the Changi Airport to fetch the next available flight to KL (a Tiger Airways flight leaving @ 5.10pm).
All these cost me a couple of hundred SGD’s. The cost is irrelevant compared to the reputation and integrity of Asiaweb and th4e inconvenience for me. I will when I return to Australia post messages all over to all potential travellers that, based on my experience, the website cannot be trusted.
I travelled a lot around the world and pride on honesty and integrity, none of which was evident in Asiaweb!
As I say, I still look forward to the last part of my journey taking the Airebus as recommended by so many but yet to go on board!
I am leaving with good spirits after meeting with friends in KL whom I haven’t met for almost 40 years but at the same time a sour taste!
