Nikon D60

I used to be really bad with cameras and could never take good shots. So I was a little surprised at how much I grew to love photography and cameras when I was sourcing for wedding photographers. Recently, the availability and affordability of semi-professional DSLR cameras on the market have made phototaking so much easier and fun. Last weekend, I met a friend who had a swanky new Nikon D60 and she was really nice in letting me play around with it.
The camera is relatively light for its size and works really well for female photographers. It fits very well and I had no trouble taking photographs with it as it was very stable when I had my hand under the lens. It was also easy to swing around to take unconventional shots. I was initially a little surprised to see that the 2.5 inch LCD screen was blank when I used the viewfinder but later learnt that is a new feature which is good, otherwise there would be some glare if the screen is on.
The design of the camera is simple which suits me well as I don’t like too many messy buttons to meddle with. What’s interesting is that the symbols and numbers on the display rotate through 90 degrees to give the correct orientation according to how the camera is held. The D60 has a wide sensitivity range of ISO 100 to ISO 6000 and can be used in a wide range of lighting conditions. I tried it in a dimly lit restaurant and was really impressed at how sharp and clear the pictures were without any flash. The camera has built-in Speedlights and a sophisticated i-TTL flash system to give excellent balanced results.
Nikon’s advanced Vibration Reduction technology combats the effect of camera shake, allowing the use of shutter speeds that are up to three times slower than is practical with non-VR lenses. This is really useful for me especially since I have a notorious history of taking blurry pictures with compact cameras! Personally I find taking pictures with the DSLR much steadier as I am able to control the camera by holding below the lens unlike a compact.
I don’t know much about technological stuff but I do know a beauty when I see one and the D60 is simply gorgeous for an entry level camera. I should start saving up for one soon!
