Starbucks Frappucino – Bottled!

Do you love coffee? I used to know someone who was coffee crazy. He had to start every morning with a hot steaming cup of latte to kick-start his brain! In fact, he was such a regular at the Starbucks coffee joint around the corner that the girls there could even greet him by name!
I’m not much of a coffee drinker but when sis and I saw this bottle of Starbucks Frappucino on the diary shelves in Isetan, we simply had to give it a try! We’ve seen it several years ago already in the 7-11 stores in Bangkok but had never seen it on our shelves in KL yet till very recently. It’s really sometimes quite interesting how different taste buds can vary when we’re just neighbouring countries!
The Starbucks bottled Frappucino comes in a sturdy little glass bottle with the trademark Starbucks mermaid logo on it. The particular one we bought was a mocha Frappucino which promised a delicious and low fat blend of authentic Starbucks coffee, milk and a rich chocolatey Mocha. It comes sealed with plastic and a screw top cap which is sealed for your safety.
How was the taste? Personally, I found it a bit too rich and sweet although it tasted really good cold. The strong coffee taste went really well with the chocolate and the milk lent it a certain richness which would definitely appeal if you love coffee blends. I think it tastes best chilled till very cold or poured over ice cubes as suggested by the Starbucks site. I’m sure it’ll taste really good blended with ice cubes too to make a delicious mocha smoothie!
The label promises only 1% fat and 65kcal in every 100ml which is pretty low fat!
Interestingly enough, the ingredients included shortening which was the first time I’ve seen that in drinks! I thought it was a bread ingredient! At over RM10 a pop for 281ml, it is definitely not cheap unless you’re used to paying for designer coffees from the Starbucks joint. It’s definitely something coffee junkies on the go will enjoy!
