Food Republic, The Pavilion Kuala Lumpur

Do you find eating out on weekends in shopping centres really expensive? This is especially so when you go to a swanky mall like The Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. Hence, I was really happy to hear that a new Food Republic food court was opened in the new mall, Pavillion. It is located on the lowest floor where the Mercato supermarket is located and is built in a similar fashion to the Food Republic food court in VivoCity Singapore. The Food Republic is filled with over 20 stalls offering all kinds of interesting food. It has something for everyone, from Korean, Malay, Taiwanese and the hugely popular Thye Hong hokkien noodles from Singapore.
The Food Republic is a brightly lit and comfortable eating area with lots of tables and chairs available for hungry diners. The place is very clean with many servers coming around to clear the tables. The tables are arranged in different clusters and surrounded by the stalls. I’ve noticed that quite a number of popular food and brands from Singapore have been introduced in this food court. This is what that makes it rather unique compared to the food courts we have here. There is a tremendous choice to choose from and for under RM10, one can get a satisfying meal! A drinks and dessert stall is also available in the centre area which dishes up a myriad of delicious looking desserts to cool you down after a hard day of shopping!

I went there a while back to try their Thye Hong hokkien noodles. Unlike our dark sauce hokkien noodles, there are chewy rice noodles mixed with yellow noodles that are fried over a hot wok with eggs, prawns and bean sprouts. What makes them extra special is the way they are served – on a fried banana leaf which adds a really rustic look and additional fragrance. Eaten with their homemade sambal, it is absolutely delicious!
Do give it a try the next time you visit the Food Republic at The Pavilion Kuala Lumpur! There’s definitely something for everyone!

There’s definitely something for everyone in Food Republic. The food court concept is also the same as the food court in Siam Paragon, Bangkok.
PE says: Really? I didn’t know that! Must be all owned by the same owner!

Their service at their Suntec Branch in Singapore are really lousy, before you can finish the food, the service staff come over & wanted to remove your plate. The food sold there is also so-so only.

Hi Loop – Thanks for your comment. I haven’t been there in a while but it is possible their service levels have dropped. Strange though in service friendly Singapore!

i took my lunch at food republic pavilion KL today. it’s not yet busy even though is lunch hour. the service are not so good. i did ask some question from the staff at japanese food counter. but they seem like don want to answer my question. i think they have to level up their service. and the quality of the food that i order is not match with the price.

Hi Daniel – Seems like their service levels and food quality have dropped which is a pity as it was a nice place to eat in when they first opened.
