Carl’s Jr Burgers, Midvalley Megamall

I had heard of Carl’s Jr a long time back when they tried their first foray into Malaysia. At that time, they suffered a terrible flop and barely lasted a year in our city! I’m not sure why that happened. Perhaps the people here just weren’t ready for charbroiled burgers the way American diners make them - huge and messy burgers with delicious sauce dripping down the sides!

This time round, Carl’s Jr is back, bigger and brighter and they are pulling in crowds of people this time around with their new American charbroiled burgers. I paid a visit to Carl’s Jr in Midvalley yesterday and came away hugely impressed. Their outlet is bright and breezy with comfortable booths along the wall and little individual tables with comfy stools.

Come in and you’ll see a brightly lit board with a huge variety of burgers and side dishes. They have a mind-boggling choice of burgers ranging from charbroiled beef burgers and yummy healthy charbroiled chicken breasts. They even have a low-carb charbroiled chicken option where the chicken is served in a healthy wrap instead of a bun.

We were at a total loss at what to order and when asked for a recommendation, the smiling server suggested that we try the Carl’s Jr Portobello Mushroom Burger.

We opted for the Combo option which came with a fries, refillable drink and a huge burger. I was really impressed by their range of drinks available for refill from soft drinks to even hot drinks such as coffee and tea. The even had a big salad bar with free refills of pickles, onions, salsa and a delicious relish I couldn’t help dipping every bite of my fries in!

I was also really impressed at how their burgers were all freshly made when you place your order. You actually have to wait for a while but it was worth the wait as each burger arrived piping hot and smelling absolutely delicious. Unwrap the paper covering and you will be treated to a lovely soft bun with a delicious charbroiled beef patty (or two if you opt for the double!), lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and lots of deliciously sauteed mushrooms. I loved the fries as well which came crisp and firm, absolutely delicious! I had another side order of onion rings which were also delicious especially when dunked into their delicious tomato relish.

I would highly recommend the new Carl’s Jr if not for the price. The prices are a little on the steep side with most combos starting at RM20 and above.

However, if you are a small eater, do share otherwise you might find the burgers overwhelming you!
