Food at The Gardens, Midvalley
The Gardens, Midvalley is one of my favourite shopping centres. I find it very clean, stylish, spacious and best of all, not jam packed with people even on weekends. The Gardens doesn’t have a food court as the restaurants and eateries there tend to be more scattered. However, the Lower Ground Floor is almost akin to a food court as it features most food places.
A tunnel has also recently been built to connect the old wing of Midvalley Megamall to the spanking new Gardens via a walkway lined with all kinds of cute and interesting little cafes featuring all kinds of food. Some of them are really interesting such as Baoz, Big Apple Donuts, Shilin Taiwan Snacks, Jonker Street Desserts and lots more.
Visitors to The Gardens food floor will be greeted by a yummy mouthwatering display of gelato at Gelatissimo. I always been sorely tempted by this stall with their brilliantly coloured gelato flavours but haven’t yet had the chance to try it yet.
Next to this is the Marketplace @ Cold Storage, a trendy and upmarket supermarket that offers all kinds of local and imported food and fruit. Its cooked food section serves one of the best fried chicken drumsticks I have ever tasted, for below RM2!

There is a Coffee Bean smack in the middle surrounded by other eateries and food shops which are arranged in a horseshoe shape. Another really popular place here is Din Tai Fung that never fails to have a queue outside for its delicious xiao long pao and dumplings or a curious crowd watching the chefs prepare the dumplings through a glass window.
Yet another interesting place is Fogal’s Meat Market that sells a wonderful array of marinated and raw beef. They have a great variety of premium Australian beef available in cuts suitable for every kind of dish. So if you have a barbeque in mind, make sure you pop by Fogal’s for your meat!
Another favourite of mine is the MBG fruit store. MBG stands for Money Back Guarantee and that is their policy should you be unhappy with any of their fruit! They have a beautiful display of both local and international fruit and I love how generous they are with their samples and how honest they are whenever we ask how sweet their fruits are. The fruits here are surprisingly inexpensive for the high quality they maintain for each fruit they sell.
A big favourite of my sis’ is Sushi Zen Japanese sushi restaurant which is located in the middle section, near Din Tai Fung, which she has spoken of glowingly here. It is linked to the Japanese store on the same ground and they would actually cook any fresh fish you buy from the store for a flat cooking rate of RM3.

This floor is the closest I’ve seen in The Gardens to a food court. However, it is a very interesting concept using individual restaurants instead of stalls. Another thing I liked was their open area comprising 2 long rows of tables near the escalators where people can sit to eat their food from any of the restaurants or cafes on the floor. This certainly provides shoppers with a whole lot more variety!

Well, i’m quite suprised to actually get into this site just by typing Din Tai Fung!!! N i read the page about Gardens n just wanted 2 give u a little more info…
Yes, the gardens doesn’t have any Food Court, bcuz its more on the high-end kinda place. All that gardens have r all fine-dining restaurants…
Except for the ones down on lower ground, inside the underground link itself, which links us back to Mid Valley Megamall.
There u have many choices 2 make bcuz most of the outlets r all F+B outlets. It all starts from Gardens till the end of Mid valley side… In fact, if u take a closer look, most of the F+B outlets r all on LG, including mid valley.
There is no old wing or new wing, bcuz it is 2 different buildings itself. Mid valley megamall, n the other building is the Gardens.
Yes, most of the outlets in the Gardens r new…
Sum of them r well known, n sum we may never heard of it b4, but still, it doen’s hurt 2 try…
trust me, Gelatissimo’s ice-cream r great!!!
It maybe a little expensive but its worth it! Once u’ve tried it, u’ll want more… Especially when their ais-creams r fresh, which r made daily.
The Paddington House of Pancake sounds interesting. Looking forward for your review.
There’s also a Japanese Restaurant next to the book shop always packed during dinner. Haven’t tried the Penang Shop at the middle of same floor.
