Koka Instant Noodles
Every now and then I get a hankering for instant noodles. It can’t be denied that they make a fantastically easy meal or snack especially when I’m in a hurry. However, everyone knows that instant noodles aren’t too good due to the high amounts of MSG they contain. So I was really excited to find Koka MSG-free Low-fat instant rice noodles in Singapore. They retail for a pack of 5 individual pack which contains rice noodles, seasoning and garnishing. It comes in Chicken Pho and Seafod flavours which are light but flavorsome despite not having any MSG.
The noodles are light and slippery soft rice noodles which come in a portion size that’s just perfect for me. The rice noodles are also healthier than conventional instant noodles as they are not fried. The noodles cook very quickly so it is best to cook them for only approximately 2 minutes otherwise they will become too soft.
I find that the Koka instant noodles go really well with a poached egg. Although the soup is MSG-free, I suspect that there is still some amount of seasoning or salt inside as I do still get a little thirsty after eating the noodles.
I used to buy my supply of Koka from Singapore for approximately SG$4.00. However, I recently noticed that Malaysian supermakets have started bringing Koka in as well, however I have yet to find the low-fat rice noodles version here.
Nevertheless, if you’re looking for a healthier alternative of instant noodles, do give Koka instant noodles a try. They go really well with a poached egg, vegetables and some seaweed for a wholesome meal.
