Royal Melbourne Show

I used to study in Melbourne and my friends and I would always made it a point to visit the annual Royal Melbourne Show. It was originally a place for farmers and those in the agricultural business to come together to showcase their prized animals or products. However, over the years, it has evolved into a fun filled event with all kinds of entertainment, samples, food and information about the agricultural and livestock industry.

Here was where my horse mad friends sighed over expensive and designer horse riding apparel, here was where we saw prize winning cows and bulls and even chickens and here was where we screamed ourselves hoarse on scary rides! Not to forget stuffing our faces with all the delicious and unhealthy fair food such as toffee apples, cotton candy, corn dogs, hot dogs and so much more! A special highlight of these fairs are their goody bags which come partly sponsored by lots of huge corporate sponsors. For a small fee of less than $10, you can walk away with a goody bag filled with all kinds of things where the total value could be $30 or even up to $50! It’s a great souvenir to take away from the Show and rest assured, you’ll find lots of food samples inside the bag to keep you happy for weeks to come!

I found that the next Royal Melbourne Show will be showing next year in September. Maybe I should try to coordinate a trip there then to catch it and relive some of the best years of my life again! :)
