Perfect Car Babysitter

I recently hitched a ride from my colleague out for lunch and was surprised to see a little DVD screen behind his seat. I used to sometimes see cars zooming past on the highway with a little eerie glow on the back of the front seat but never had the chance to see on up close before. He told me that that little portable DVD player is a life-saver for him whenever he has to travel with his children. It keeps them entertained for at least 4 hours on its long-life battery pack which is approximately a journey from KL to Penang, minus traffic jams!

Because I was so not “with it” and had never seen one, he very generously allowed me to fiddle around with it. It’s actually really quite easy to use and apparently his 4 year old has mastered the art of turning on his favourite DVD to watch on long road trips! I got to test a kiddie DVD and found it a little hard to watch as the car wasn’t very stable. It did remind me of staring at the little screen on airplanes, albeit a much more unstable one. I still can’t really imagine myself watching it as it got me feeling a little nauseous but I guess for parents of screaming toddlers, it truly is the perfect baby-sitter for long journeys!
