One of my favourite magazines I always head for when in the bookstore is the Malaysian Tatler. It features the who’s-who in the local scene from celebrities to tycoons and the wonderful parties and celebrations. I used to jokingly say that I would have made it when I can appear in the Tatler some day and shock and horror, I actually did in one of the issues last year! I had accompanied a friend for a grand launch by Tiffany & Co and we were caught on camera! Luckily I looked quite decent! :P

I have to say that it’s edited pretty well. The front pages are always full of photographs about the social soirées happening around town in the luxury hotels and the beautiful dresses the women have come in. I like the articles they usually have with prominent tycoons or business people around town as well as they sometimes give interesting insights into how they made their fortune or conduct their business. However, the section I always read is the home reviews they do on the huge mansions and luxury penthouses owned by the rich. They offer fantastic ID ideas which don’t necessarily have to be expensive.

Because the Tatler is catered to the rich and famous crowd, even their advertisements are unique and usually feature luxury items from Rolex watches to luxury cars. I even came across an advertisement for West Palm Beach real estate once! It even came with its own little banner in the ad which looked like this:

While I may not be in that league today, I guess it never hurts to dream so dream I shall, with my Tatler!
