Just last weekend, I was on my last transit leg back from Beijing via my favourite airline, Singapore Airlines. They served a hot breakfast when we left Beijing and a snack before we landed in Singapore. I wasn’t feeling too well and when I read that their snacks were cold sandwiches, I asked for a hot snack. Now, if this had been Malaysia Airlines, their response would have been “Sorry, no hot snack”. But this being Singapore Airlines, they beamed and told me they’re so sorry that their service is cold but they could bring me some instant noodles if I wanted. Oh course I did! And it soon arrived, piping hot in the little cup with a pair of chopsticks laid out nicely.

I was really impressed to see that they gave Nissin cup noodles. It smelt really delicious, especially when I had been hankering for soup noodles for so long! The noodle was nice and springy with a lovely al-dente bite while the soup was quite light and not overly cloying with MSG. I was equally impressed with the little condiments that came with the noodle. Inside the noodles were generous helpings of rehydrated egg (little yellow sponges that didn’t taste of much), cabbage (generous helpings), rehydrated squid bits (which tasted surprisingly very squid-like) and slivers of crabstick.

It was really yummy and although I didn’t start off being that hungry, I wolfed down every last strand of noodle and fluffy egg! :) What a satisfying snack!
