Gulf Air

This flight with Gulf Air was one of the most hilarious flights I’d ever taken.
We were headed to Bangkok and since Gulf Air was doing a fantastic promotion for stopovers in Bangkok en-route to the Middle East, we opted to take that especially since we’ve never been on Gulf Air. It was a pretty full flight and full with Middle Easterns who were headed home after their summer holidays here. The thing about economy class seats is that they aren’t made for very large people and so we had a lot of problems with a guy behind me who couldn’t quite fit into his seat and kept banging my seat with his knees. He was so unpleasant that when I lowered my chair, he shoved it back up and started to complain about how he was getting squashed. Jeez *rolls eyes* some people truly have no sense of what “economy class” means! If you can’t fit and can’t be comfortable in it, then pay more for a business class seat! Otherwise it’s going to be a painful 10-13 hours on to the Gulf!
The stewardesses on the flight were a mixture of all nationalities but the one in control was a fierce, matronly lady. No svelte skinny stewardesses like those on MAS. These are fierce ladies who would not hesitate to scowl at the passengers if they didn’t get in line! Proof was when the food cart came around and a passenger asked what choices there were. Her reply:
Fish or fish…do you want to eat?!
Yes so if you’re not a fish-eater, madam wasn’t going to sympathize!
A girl in front of us obviously loved collecting airline cutlery because when they came around to collect the empty trays, hers was just that - literally empty! She had swiped every last thing off the tray and the look madam gave her when she saw it was priceless! If it had been me, I would have probably dropped dead from the killer stare she had!
When the plane just landed with the seatbelt sign still on, some over-excited and kiasu passengers got up to quickly access their overhead compartment. Madam saw it and wasn’t pleased at all and she bellowed from the front of the cabin:
You, sir, SIT DOWN!
After that, all the passengers sat meekly in their seats until madam gave the okay to get up! It was a truly hilarious flight and we still laugh over it today. A really memorable experience with Gulf Air!
