Swiss Garden Golf Resort & Spa, Damai Laut

A friend recently got “conned” into attending a Time Share talk organised by Swiss Gardens International. I really wonder how these time share companies obtain your mobile number and name. So much for privacy clauses nowadays!

Anyway, the talk was held in their Swiss Garden Hotel in KL and they promise you a free 3D/2N stay at one of their resorts in exchange for your time. Well, you should know that the voucher can only be used on non-peak periods between Sunday night to Thursday night which equals taking leave. I guess it’s okay for people who have lots of leave to spare.

The voucher they gave us was for their apartments at Swiss Garden Golf Resort and Spa Damai Laut located in Lumut. Now, the hotel in Damai Laut is a nice 4 star resort hotel with lots of facilities and a nice swimming pool. Their apartments, however, are something quite different. It’s located a drive away from the main hotel within its own complex. There was a greenish pool sitting there when we arrived but was told that it was under maintenance. I also saw a pool table and a sauna which was located in the individual gents and ladies’ toilets.

There were about 4-5 blocks of apartments and they all looked a little run-down. Their rates are very cheap though, especially if you’re traveling in a big group. Parking is in the open air, near your apartment. When we arrived, I couldn’t help noticing signs warning you to close your windows when you go out so the monkeys wouldn’t get in! Eeps…I’m not much of a nature girl!

f_8The door was a bit flimsy and it opens into a studio apartment. It comes with a basic bed, a telly that couldn’t get any other channel except for TV3, a couch set and a dining table. The kitchen has some kitchenware, some pots and pans and a hob if you would like to do some cooking while you’re there. You might want to consider bringing your own cutlery and pots though.

Overall, it’s not that bad a place if you’re traveling with a big family or group and want to save a bit on your accommodation. The additional cooking facilities provided by the apartment makes things easier for families with young children or those who just choose to have a night in as the drive from the main road to the hotel is very dark and winding at night. They do run promotions every now and then so do check it out if you’re headed to Pangkor or Damai Laut anytime soon!
