Luxury Coaches to Singapore
I’ll be heading to Singapore right after work this evening! Woohoo!
While planning my trip, I did some research on the luxury coaches that ply that route and found that there are 3 big companies – Aeroline, Airebus and First Coach. First Coach is the cheapest at RM40 for KL-SIN and RM100 for a return trip while the other two companies tied at RM160 for a return. One thing I also learnt was that it costs a lot more to buy a one-way ticket from SIN-KUL as opposed to the KUL-SIN route so you’re always better off buying a return unless you’re intending to swap buses on your return journey. Could it be due to the exchange rate or just simply the fact that Singaporeans are richer and, therefore, can pay more?! I haven’t quite figured it out yet!
First Coach was my first choice but the don’t have much of a website. All you’ll get directed to is a site with their phone number and fax together with their bus times. Of all the coach companies, they have the most number of routes and therefore more flexibility, not to mention their price! But because they are the cheapest and most flexible, you have to book your tickets early as they sell out very fast! When you book 2 days before like how I attempted to, be prepared to be disappointed!
That left me with no other choice than Aeroline or Airebus. Both cost the same but leave from different locations. Aeroline leaves from Menara Axis in PJ and Corus Hotel in KL but arrives in Harbourfront in Singapore. I’ve heard that their seats are comfy plus they serve food from Subway on the bus! They also allow online booking through their website so you don’t have to physically head over to their office to do it.
Airebus, on the other hand, leaves from Boulevard Hotel in Midvalley Megamall and stops off at DFS Singapore, right smack on Orchard! Ah, it wasn’t a difficult choice to make then since their departure point was so very convenient for me! I read that their seats are like the business class airplane seats too! The two cons about Airebus is that they’ve encountered delays in their schedule before and they don’t allow online booking which means you have to run over to their desk in the Boulevard Hotel to purchase your ticket.
All tickets purchased are non-refundable and non-transferable so do make sure your plans are confirmed before you hand over the money. I like the fact that all these luxury coach companies use the Tuas or 2nd link into Singapore as opposed to Woodlands. The immigration queue there is usually shorter and less stressful. So if you’re planning a comfortable trip to Singapore, do check these out.
My review on Airebus will be coming right up after my trip!
