Cheap Mall Food
Everyone knows that mall food can be pretty expensive when all of your choices are either cafes or restaurants. Even the food courts can be pricey. I have very bad memories of paying RM10 for a plate of Indian rice in the KLCC food court! So where does one eat when in a mall? I can’t vouch for KLCC but having worked around MidValley Megamall for a few years already, I found a secret place where food is much more affordable if you aren’t too fussy.
Down in the bowels of the mall, on the LG floor is a “Makan Place” accessible through a little road that runs in between the mall and the offices behind. This is an area of Malay stalls selling Malay mixed rice dishes and the occasional “goreng” dish for very affordable prices. You can get lunch here for less than RM4, and even cheaper if you eat less! It can be quite uncomfortable as it’s hot with minimal air-conditioning and people seem to take that as the liberty to smoke their lungs out. So if you’re working in the mall like us mall rats, pop by there, pack your lunch and eat it in the comfort of your office
Easy peasy!
So, do remember this little secret when you’re next in the Mall and are looking for cheap food
